Hey hey it’s the Moseley Folk Festival!

Somewhat unbelievably (where’s the time going this year eh?) it’s just over a month until Mo Folk and this one’s extra special as the festival’s celebrating its tenth anniversary. Happy birthday Mo Folk...we’ll buy you a cake or something...and get you a pint...and maybe one of those badges with your age on that lights up. Anyway, as ever there’s a wonderfully eclectic definition of the word ‘folk’ which this year sees none other than The Monkees headline on Sunday night with Idlewild on Saturday and Spritualized on Friday.

Other gems include a resurgent Gaz Coombes, Anna Calvi (one of the most powerful live vocalists on planet earth right now), The Polyphonic Spree (worth the ticket price on their own in my humble opinion), The Unthanks, Folk legend (and for once the word’s justified) Martin Carthy with his old mucker Dave Swarbrick, Du Blonde (the artist formerly known as Beth Jeans Houghton) and Brum’s very own Goodnight Lenin. Plus there’ll be workshops (I might even try a little mild ‘rapper dancing’ this year), yummy grub, scrummy drinks and the kind of beautifully chilled out atmosphere that brings a grin to the face and a smile to the soul.

Weekend/day tickets are available right here, rightnow. Buy now or be well and truly folked when it sells out!
